The Mid and South Canterbury Community Trust provides charitable, cultural, philantropic and recreational benefits to the local and national community. In the year to 31st March 2012 the Trust gave over a million dollars of financial support to a diverse range community projects and needs. This funding was given to help facilitate the setting up and maintenance of services and amenities provided by a large variety of community organisations including schools, sports clubs, culutral and historic societies, organisations that assist the ill or disabled, senior citizen groups and many more. The Trust generally provides supplementary funding rather than acting as a principal funding source, supporting organisations by providing funding at a time that best suits their needs. The Trust recognises the continuing and invaluable work of the voluntary sector in many of its funding decisions.
The Mid and South Canterbury Trust is managed by a Board of ten trustees, chaired by Peter O’Leary.
